CAGGR 72.6% 2024 – 2030 – Global Automotive Camera-Based Mirror Market to Witness Exponential Growth – QY Research If you want to drive a seven-seater faster, it’s probably because you’re a crazy person who likes to drive. extended family crazies, there are currently three options for you in Singapore. There’s the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35, which is plenty quick, but doesn’t quite meet the criteria for a seven-seater. There’s the Audi SQ7 we recently tested, which can properly intimidate some supercars, as well as scare the wallet with its loud and thirsty V8 engine.
And now here it is, the Skoda Kodiaq RS, the hot version of Skoda’s seven-seater Kodiaq. It is lower than Mercedes and Audi in terms of prestige and price, but it also offers the basic product of Skoda.

There’s a bit of a perverse kick to the idea of being able to carry seven people and still be able to pass through a not-so-large highway, but to be honest, the Kodiaq RS is really slick, despite its level of functionality. Kodiak is the king of speed.
Powering the car is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot engine that also powers the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Skoda Octavia RS. In this application, the unit produces 245 horsepower and 370Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This gives the Kodiaq RS a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 233 km/h.
Sounds good on paper, but in reality the Kodiaq RS isn’t as exciting as the stats suggest. It’s undeniably fast, and it can get you into trouble with the police, but it does so with little drama, keeping the productive soundtrack of the rear sports exhaust resonator. Apart from that, the Kodiaq RS is no different from other mid-size cars.
It’s amazing how powerful it is though. The car comes with adaptive suspension which gives it excellent handling chops, there is definitely a limit to the physics that can be resisted and there is a bit of body roll under tight corners. Meanwhile, the suspension makes the Kodiaq RS ride more comfortably than you’d expect from a sport-oriented model.

As a family car, the Kodiaq ticks most of the right boxes. There’s plenty of legroom, even in the third row, which is fine for the average adult, but there’s no air conditioning for those who end up there. The cabin also has some sporty touches, such as RS-branded sports seats, red stitching and steering wheel shift paddles.
It is well-equipped with standard features, including matrix LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charger, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping.
On the outside, the car has worn brakes, a slightly aggressive lower lip, some RS badging and unique 20-inch wheels that help with aerodynamic efficiency, but otherwise it’s hard to tell. At first glance, tell the car apart from the regular Kodiak.
This is probably due to the low profile nature of the car. Still, at $288,900 COE you wouldn’t call it cheap, it’s the most affordable seven-seater in Singapore (albeit with fewer rivals in the segment). The Kodiaq RS’s combination of family-friendly practicality and sense of speed puts it in a class of its own, even if it’s not quite the exciting sports car that its thrilling pedigree offers.
